Our Journey To Creating Something Exceptional
This is not what you think it is (lol)
Hmmm... this one has been a very tasking journey. Where do I start from? Let’s go to the beginning. Make sure to grab popcorn and chilled pulpy orange because this is definitely going to be like one of those interesting folktales mama told you as a child.
We started irresponsibly. It was like we were on a vacation. Nobody wanted to do anything. Even till the last day!! E shock you?? E shock me too o😭😭. I was saying to myself “who are these people trying to stain my white?!” I didn’t understand how nonchallant people could be towards something they genuinely applied for.
You’re wondering what this is all about? Let’s backtrack a little.
10 digital marketers and content creators were grouped into a team to create
something exceptional and creative for a fintech brand. The options were
Kuda, Safeboda and some others. My team chose Kuda. Everyone loves Kuda
we all said...
Now it’s time to create a strategy for the brand we all love. In lieu of that, we were expected to create a content calendar for July, newsletters and blog posts that would also run through the course of the month. Our initial task was to understand the brand we are working with. This simply requires us to do thorough research on the brand. Its voice, tone, target audience, digital marketing strategies and its customer’s view. This helped us understand how to approach the brand. Need I say we didn’t do all of this??
Lmaooo, we couldn’t even have one single meeting. Every time we
set a time, people wouldn’t show up. It was an actual disaster.
So individually, some of us did our research. Phoenix was the first to draft a
digital marketing strategy. It was incredible work.
We (myself and Success went through it and agreed it was good to go). Both of us continued to work
on other things. I created the content calendar from scratch to finish with
exciting, engaging posts that reflect the brand and what it stands for.
Success wrote some newsletters, I did too... And here the tragedy began. It became an extreme chore reaching the others. But let's not ponder on all the bad things, let's focus on the good. Even though we could not meet the deadline which was Sunday, we got an extension.
And Monday morning, surprisingly, three more people show up. We all did a last-minute brainstorming and we were able to come up with 8 newsletters, 5 blog posts and a content calendar with 16 content spread across 4 weeks. This is not our best shot, not even close. We know we fucked up but we promise our second week would be all shades of better.
This has been a hectic one for me as the team lead. I was close to tears ehn😩😂 but I just kept keeping my cool.
We hope you love all of our content and that it appeals to you.
